View RecordsIdentify the intended Clayton County and distinguish a court-case lookup from a state criminal-history request before ordering a background check.
Clayton County may refer to Georgia or Iowa. A criminal-history report is a different product from a county court disposition. Ask the requesting organization to identify the state, required report and any fingerprint or consent procedure before paying for a substitute.
GBI guidance directs personal copies to most sheriff’s offices or police departments. Ask the local agency for its identification requirements, fee and service hours; GCIC itself does not run name-based checks.
GBI describes a signed-consent route for another person’s Georgia history. Its separate public felony-conviction route does not mean every part of someone’s record is freely available.
Use the requesting agency’s GAPS instructions and authorized registration. A printout from a local court search is not the same submission or identification process.

For a Georgia felony, Clayton Superior Court is the identified trial-court route. For an Iowa case, use the Clayton District Court clerk at 111 High St. NE, Suite 203, Elkader. Name the case number and disposition you need, and state whether certification is required. A history report may identify the event without supplying that court-certified filing.
Iowa DCI explains that releasable information depends partly on authorization and that confidential juvenile information is not released through a signed authorization. Read the product’s disclosure limits before turning a no-history response into a claim that the person has never had a proceeding.
